Ranbir Kapoor reveals Alia Bhatt didn’t know who was Kishore Kumar; says, “It’s important we remember our roots”

Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor recently graced the International Film Festival of India to celebrate 100 years of Raj Kapoor’s centenary and legacy. He is best known for his work in films such as Animal, Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani and many more.

Ranbir shares how people have forgotten the legendary artist like Kishore Kumar

Director Rahul Rawail Ranbir stated that the Kapoor family will be hosting a Raj Kapoor film festival from December 13th to 15th across the country. Additionally, Raj Kapoor’s films have been restored for the festival by his uncle Kunal Kapoor, NFDC, NFAI, and Film Heritage of India. To date, they have restored at least ten of his films.

Speaking about this project, Ranbir shared how people have forgotten the legendary artist, and in that revelation, he also stated that even Alia Bhatt didn’t know who Kishore Kumar was. Narrating the incident, he said, “There are so many people who have not seen his work, like the first time I met Alia, she asked me, ‘Who is Kishore Kumar?’, so it’s just that circle of life; artists are forgotten and newer artists come. It is very important we remember our roots. “

Ranbir also revealed one film of his that he would have liked his grandfather to direct and said, “Because he made Bobby and he was always amazing with love stories, I would really like to see him direct Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani and celebrate the music and the characters.”

Ranbir revealed that he would never try to direct any of his grandfather’s movies as a filmmaker since they would all end up being terrible, much like his acting school short films, which he has since buried and no one can watch.

Ranbir Kapoor’s work front

On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor has just completed filming Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana alongside Sai Pallavi. Additionally, Ranbir is also going to film Animal Park with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, another romantic film featuring Alia Bhatt. He has begun shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War with Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt.
